I’ve been in love with music for as long as I can remember. As a child, I sang Aretha Franklin’s “Respect”. Her voice and words captivated me. Then came Stevie Wonder — listening to Songs in the Key of Life and Innervisions as a child felt like discovering a whole new universe. His music was layered, lush, and magical. They were a part of the soundtrack of my youth.
In church my favorite part wasn’t the sermon — it was the deep, humming rhythm of chanted prayers. They were slow, steady and grounding. An early version of a sound bath.
It wasn’t until adulthood that I really started to understand the possibility of sound. The sounds of nature: bird songs that wrapped me in love and joy, the sound of wind whistling through a not fully closed window leading to an anxiousness of a coming storm, or the crunch of leaves underfoot breaking the silence of Fall . (Also, shoutout to Stevie Wonder for getting me through college — I slept to his music like it was a lullaby made just for me.)
But here’s the fun twist: it’s not just sound that works magic — it’s vibration too. The low rumble of a truck passing by? My body feels discomfort from the vibration of the truck. But the steady beat of a drum? The sound of chimes? Absolute bliss. Our ears hear sound, sure, but our skin feels vibration. Even when there’s no music playing, we can feel a beat — in our heartbeat and in our breath.
Sound and vibration are magic potions, my favorite kinds of medicine.
That’s why I offer healing sessions, one:one or group — that use both to soothe, restore, and reconnect. I also share guided meditations on my Instagram, or you can email me to schedule a free 30-minute consultation. Let’s listen in, together.
